Congress announces candidates for Mapusa, Shiroda by-polls

Panaji, Mar 29 (UNI) The Congress on Friday announced list of candidates for Assembly by-elections to be held along with Lok Sabha elections on April 23, 2019.

According to a statement from the party, Sudhir Kandolkar will be party candidate in Mapusa Assembly constituency, Mahadev Naik will contest from Shiroda constituency.

Interestingly, both Kandolkar and Naik were in Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) till recent and joined Congress ahead of the by-elections.

Naik had contested 2017 Assembly elections as BJP candidate and was defeated by Congress candidate Subhash Shirodkar. Now Shirodkar is in the BJP. He quit Congress last year and is contesting the by-election as BJP candidate.
