Complaint lodged against Sadhvi Niranjan for her abusive remarks
New Delhi, Dec 3 (IBNS): A formal complaint was filed against Union Minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti for use of abusive language in Monday's public rally on Wednesday, reports said.
The complaint has been lodged under sections 153-A, B and 295-A IPC in New Delhi's Tilak Marg Police Station.
The charges against her include deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion among others.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday warned all Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislators to not address the nation out of turn.
He said he will not compromise on abusive languages by the BJP MLAs.
The upper house of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, was adjourned for the day earlier on Wednesday after MPs, especially from the Trinamool Congress, enter the well of the House demanding Jyoti's resignation for her hate speech.
While the clamour for resignation of Jyoti grew, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu said: "Question of Niranjan Jyoti resigning doesn't arise. Let Congress remember what it did with regard to Beni Prasad Verma."
Earlier in the day, angry Opposition demanded explanation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on why a union minister had not been fired despite her hate speech in Delhi during a campaign.
The Opposition demanded that the abusive minister should be sacked immediately from the Union cabinet. “The PM must answer,” chanted angry opposition leaders in Parliament.
BSP party chief Mayawati and CPI-M MP Sitaram Yechury also demanded resignation of the Sadhvi for her remarks.
Union minister of state for food processing, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti on Monday had said: “You have to decide. Do you want a government of Ramzaadon (followers of Ram) or Haramzaadon (those who are illegitimate)?”
Jyoti also criticized Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her son-in-law Robert Vadra’s controversial land deals. “The son of an ordinary family, who sold utensils, Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law, how did this man become a millionaire? They robbed the poor,” he said.
Jyoti debuted in the general elections held in May this year and won from Uttar Pradesh. She was one of the six BJP MPs in-charge the party’s campaign for the Delhi polls scheduled early next year.
Following Jyoti’s abusive remarks, PM Modi on Tuesday also warned his lawmaker not to speak “out of turn”.
