Civic governance has collapsed in Mumbai: Rahul Gandhi

| @indiablooms | Jul 03, 2018, at 08:29 pm

New Delhi/Mumbai, July 3 (IBNS): Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said 'civic governance has collapsed'  in Mumbai with the city witnessing flooded streets and over-bridge collapse on rail tracks as a result of incessant rains.

Normal life has practically been thrown out of gear with continuous rains lashing Mumbai and parts of adjoining areas.

In a tweet, Gandhi attacked the state government and posted:

At least five people were hurt as part of a bridge collapsed in Mumbai's Andheri on Tuesday morning, disrupting railway service in the city, officials said.

The cause of the collapse is suspected to be heavy rain.

The accident also forced commuters to wait for long hours as the Mumbai suburban local train service was badly hit.

Confirming the number of injured people in the incident, Western Railway tweeted:

Meanwhile, Railways Minister Piyush Goyal has ordered an enquiry into the collapse.

Maharashtra Chief Minister  Devendra Fadnavis earlier directed officials to ensure smooth flow of traffic in the city.
