New Delhi, Mar 16 (IBNS): Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday said the Christchurch mosques attack, which killed 49 people, should be a warning to the world that "hatred is never benign".

Priyanka tweeted, "The horrific terrorist act in New Zealand should be a warning to the whole world: hatred is NEVER benign. My heart goes out to the victims and their families, may love and support from the millions who are repelled by this crime sustain them and give them courage."

The attack took place at two mosques in Christchurch city of New Zealand.

Over 40 people were treated for injuries.

The main suspect has been identified as an Australian citizen. He has been charged and remanded in custody to appear in the High Court on Apr 5.

Three others have been arrested in connection with the incident so far.

Priyanka, who recently joined active Indian politics, is the Congress chief in eastern Uttar Pradesh.
