Chattisgarh: Fire broke out at Unit of Bhilai Steel Plant

Bhilai, May 24 (UNI) A Fire broke out at the Tar Distillation Unit in the plant's Coke Ovens and Coal Chemicals (CO&CC) Department of Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Bhilai Steel Plant.

Official sources said that fire broke out with explosion at store of tar plant in Coke Ovens at around 0900 hrs on Friday.

More than 12 vehicles of fire brigade were dispatched to the site to extinguish the fire. The mishap did not cause loss of life. Senior officials of the plant reached the site to assess the loss.

This was the second conservative incident of eruption of fire in the plant. On Thursday, a puncture in ladle caused fire eruption leading to two explosions. Fire incidents are talking place for the last two days during blazing heat raising questions on safety arrangements in the plant.
