Central team visits West Bengal to access the damage caused by Cyclone Yaas

New Delhi/UNI: The Centre on Sunday dispatched an inter- Ministerial team, headed by a Union Home Ministry’s Joint Secretary level officer to West Bengal to access the damage caused by the recent Cyclone Yaas, a Home Ministry official confirmed here on Sunday.

Apart from meeting officials of the state disaster management and finance ministry officials at Nabanna, this team will also visit the Cyclone hit areas in South 24 Pargana and East Midnapore to take the ground report and the access the damages in the areas upon its arrival today.

The Central team will complete it assessment in next three days and will return to Delhi on June 9.

Cyclone Yaas which made landfall on May 26, has caused severe damage to the States of Odisha, West Bengal and parts of Jharkhand.

On May 28, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made an aerial survey to the cyclone affected areas of Odisha and West Bengal and held a review meeting at Indian Air Force Kalaikunda airport in West Bengal.
