Calcutta HC grants conditional permission for Mohan Bhagwat rally at Brigade Parade Ground, show-causes Kolkata CP

The court has imposed few conditions to organize the rally.

According to the court's guidelines, only invited members will get access to the rally, total number of attendance shall not cross 4000 and the rally has to be held between 2 pm. to 6 pm. on Saturday.

The Calcutta High Court also directed the Kolkata Police to arrange sufficient security for the rally at Brigade Parade Ground.

Earlier on Wednesday, the court had directed Kolkata Police Commissioner to consider RSS's application for permission to host the rally at Brigade by 24 hours.

According to the court order, a Joint Commissioner would considere the matter and submit report to the commissioner.

The Police Commissioner was directed to give his decision on the permission of RSS rally.

However, a Joint Commissioner of city police on Thursday informed the state unit of RSS that police could not give permission for the rally as a large number of policemen are busy in Gangasagar for Makar Sankranti.

Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar's signature was reportedly absent in the letter.

RSS on Friday moved to the High Court again against police's decision and got confusional permission from the division bench.

Meanwhile, Justice Joymalya Bagchi also issued a show cause notice to Kolkata CP Rajeev Kumar on suo-motto contempt basis as the court found a deliberate violation of court order against him.

Rajeev Kumar has been directed to submit his answer before the court by next two weeks.

Rally's organizers, however, welcomed the court's decision.
