BSF members seize 6.440 kg of heroin from Pakistani smuggler

Jalandhar/UNI: Border Security Force (BSF) on Sunday seized six packets of contraband suspected to be heroin from the Punjab border.

A spokesperson of the Punjab Frontier Headquarter of the BSF here said that the vigilant troops of the 144 Bn in Amritsar sector heard suspicious sounds in the waterlogged paddy fields.

During the search human prints of a person coming from the Pakistan side were found on the international border track and in the paddy fields.

The alert BSF troops apprehended one Pakistani smuggler with a yellow colored bag bearing the name of Lahore based Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre was printed containing six packets of contraband suspected to be heroin weighing 6.440kg. Value of the heroin seized is said to be more than Rs. 32 crore.

The BSF had recovered 357.461kgs of heroin from the Punjab border during the current calendar year so far.
