BSF gets land at Farakka to establish battalion headquarters
New Delhi/Kolkata, Apr 20 (IBNS) The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) will receive 58.81 acres of land in Farakka, in Malda district of West Bengal, for establishment of 04-Battalion Head Quarters of BSF, it was announced on Wednesday following an approval by the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Union Cabinet has given its approval for transfer of 58.81 acres of surplus land of Farakka Barrage Project under Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation to Border Security Force under Ministry of Home Affairs for establishment of the Headquarters at Khejuriaghat in Mouza Jagannathpur, J.L.No. 35, under the Kaliachak police station in the Malda district of West Bengal.
As Farakka Barrage Project is near the Indo-Bangladesh border, the headquarters of the 04 Battalion will also enhance the security of the project, said the Cabinet during the announcement.
It also said that the presence of the BSF will also reduce the possibility of encroachment of the under Farakka Barrage Project.
