Kolkata: The BSF guarding the Indian border in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district, on Sunday, detained eight Bangladeshi nationals after they trespassed into Indian territory at Swarupnagar bordering Bangladesh in the eastern part of the country.

All eight foreigners are residents of Jessore and Sathkhira districts of neighbouring Bangladesh, BSF sources said.

They entered through the porous border demarcating Indian and Bangladesh land at Swarupnagar.

The BSF has handed over the detained foreign nationals to the state police, which remanded all eight to 14 days in jail custody.
