Brazil WC: Goa govt cancels junket

Panaji, June 13 (IBNS): Amid criticisms, the Goa government on Friday cancelled the junket by six state legislators to Brazil to attend the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Goa Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar told CNN-IBN, "Goa government cancelled official tour of MLAs to Brazil, due to public sentiment."

The opposition had criticised the government over its decision to spend Rs 89 lakh from the state exchequer over the tour, reports said.

The World Cup kicked-off on Thursday.
