Panaji, Mar 15 (IBNS): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Goa Government on Sunday picked up a controversy after it dropped October 2, marked as Gandhi Jayanti, from the list of its official holidays, media reports said.
The Congress has slammed the move saying that it is a national holiday.

The party said the holiday must be observed.

Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated on October 2 to mark the birth anniversary of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, who is regarded as the  Father of the Nation.
