BJP candidate Sunny Deol files nomination from Gurdaspur
Gurdaspur, Apr 29 (IBNS): Actor-turned politician and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Punjab's Gurdaspur, Sunny Deol, filed his nomination for the Lok Sabha polls on Monday.
Sunny Deol was accompanied by his actor brother Bobby.
Sunny is expected to face a tough competition from Congress candidate and sitting MP Sunil Jakhar in the battle to win the Gurdaspur seat.
The seat was earlier represented by Bollywood actor and BJP leader Vinod Khanna in 1998, 1999, 2004 and 2014.
After Khanna died in 2017, Congress leader Sunil Jakhar registered a victory in the bypoll in October that year.
Swarn Singh Salariya had fought for the BJP.
Sunny is known for his performance in several patriotic movies like Border and Gadar- Ek Prem Katha.
