Patna, May 22 (TheBiharPost/IBNS): A bed-ridden man suffering from kidney failure and liver problems died shortly after excising his franchise in the local civil bodies’ polls which are underway, reports said.

70-year-old Laxman Prasad Poddar, a resident of West Champaran, was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of a local hospital for the past seven days after his condition turned serious.

Suddenly on Saturday, he expressed his willingness to excise his voting rights and when his family members said he was not a position to be brought to the polling booth, he gave up food, media reports said.

With the man refusing to relent, he was taken to a polling booth at Girls Middle School in Lal bazaar locality in an ambulance to fulfill his wish.

Eventually, he cast his vote and it was only then that he took his meal. But, very soon his condition deteriorated and he collapsed.
