Bihar: RJD bags Bochaha assembly seat in by-election

Patna: RJD candidate Amar Paswan won the Bochaha assembly seat in Bihar defeating his nearest rival Baby Kumari of BJP by a margin of 36,653 votes in the by-election.

Official sources said here that Paswan received 82,562 votes while Baby Kumari got 45,509 votes.

Geeta Kumari Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) candidate Geeta Kumari got 29,279 votes.

The by-election in the Bochaha seat was held on April 12 following the demise of  Musafir Paswan, the seating MLA from VIP.

Amar Paswan is the son of Musafir Paswan who was the sitting MLA of VIP from Bochaha seat.

RJD had given the ticket to Amar Paswan to contest from Bochaha in the assembly by-election.

Altogether 13 candidates including three women were in the fray.

Meanwhile, Bihar RJD president Jagadanand Singh expressed his pleasure over the victory of the party candidate in Bochaha.

He said that people had given their verdict in favour of RJD as they were dissatisfied with the poor performance of the NDA government led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
