Bihar police arrest former CM's grandson for flouting liquor ban

Patna, Oct 15 (The Bihar Post/IBNS): A grandson of Bihar’s former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi has been arrested by the police for allegedly possessing liquor bottles and violating prohibition laws in the state.

The accused Vicky Kumar along with another person was arrested from Kothwara village on the Dobhi-Chatra road in Gaya district on Friday.


Acting on a tip-off that some persons were carrying liquor bottles in cars, the police started searching vehicles plying on the road.

Reports said on seeing the police, the accused persons who were coming from Jharkhand reversed the car and began fleeing but were finally caught by the police.

During the search, the police recovered 12 liquor bottles from the car.

Police said the accused would be tried under the new liquor laws. Bihar has imposed total prohibition in the state.

According to police, Manjhi’s kin was earlier arrested and sent to jail for allegedly murdering his wife.
