Bihar: Couple commits suicide in Patna

Patna, Apr 19 (UNI) A married couple committed suicide due to financial difficulty in Rajiv Nagar locality here today.

Police Superintendent (City-Central) Prantosh Kumar Das said that one Ravi Ranjan and his wife Chanchal Kumari ended their lives by hanging from the roof of their room at a private nursing home under Rajiv Nagar police station area.

He said that the deceased were natives of Sanghatpar village under Masaurhi police station area in Patna district.

Das said that Ravi Ranjan`s suffered a paralysis stroke following a road accident and was undergoing treatment at the nursing home since April 7.

He said that health personnel found the room of couple locked from inside when they reached for routine check-up of Mr Ranjan.

The door of room was broken when the couple did not respond even after repeated knocks. He said that Ranjan was facing serious financial crisis due to huge expenditure on his treatment apparently compelling him and his wife to take extreme step.
 
The bodies have been sent for autopsy, the SP added.
