Bihar BJP tipped off about demonetisation: JD(U) on land deals

| | Nov 26, 2016, at 02:41 am
Patna, Nov 25 (IBNS): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United) has alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in his state was earlier tipped off about the demonetisation move due to which it made series of land purchases between August and September this year.

According to reports, 23 lands have been purchased for BJP party offices in the state.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the ban on old Rs.500 and Rs.1000 currency notes on Nov 8.

"The state's ruling party has also alleged that the BJP paid less than the circle rate or base cost of the land in some cases and has demanded an investigation," NDTV reported.

"They were aware of the demonetization, so most of the deals were executed in August and September,"JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar.

The government had banned the old high value currency notes in order to curb black money from the market.
