Big relief for Karisma Kapoor’s children in Sunjay Kapur’s ₹30,000-crore estate battle

In a significant interim win for Kiaan and Samaira, the children of Karisma Kapoor, the Delhi High Court has ordered that the massive estate of late businessman Sunjay Kapur be preserved.

The court said the assets — estimated at ₹30,000 crore — must not be sold or dissipated until the dispute is resolved.

Allegations against Priya Sachdeva Kapur

Kiaan and Samaira, from Sunjay Kapur’s second marriage, have accused his third wife, Priya Sachdeva Kapur, of forging a will and concealing key assets.

They claim the list submitted to the court excludes valuable items such as polo horses, luxury watches — including brands like Rolex — as well as high-value properties and artworks.

Court flags ‘prima facie case’

The High Court noted that the children had established a prima facie case and said it would be an “injustice” if no protective order was issued and the will was later proven to be fake.

The court placed the burden on Priya Kapur to dispel suspicions surrounding the will.

Bank accounts frozen, asset sale barred

As part of its order, the court restrained Priya Kapur from selling any assets and froze the operation of Sunjay Kapur’s bank accounts, ensuring the estate remains intact during the legal battle.

The dispute is part of a wider family rift, also involving Sunjay Kapur’s mother Rani Kapur and sister Mandira Kapur, marked by sharp exchanges and public allegations.

Sunjay Kapur, 53, died in London in June last year while playing polo.

His death was later confirmed to be due to natural causes linked to heart conditions, after initial speculation.
