Bhupinder Singh Hooda concedes defeat in Haryana
Chandigarh, Oct 19 (IBNS): With the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) all set to form government in the state of Haryana as counting for the Assembly elections proceeded on Sunday, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda conceded defeat.
Congratulating the Bharatiya Janata Party for its performance in the elections, he said: "I congratulate BJP for their performance. I expect the new government to maintain the pace of development."
According to the current trends, the BJP is leading in 49 of the 90 seats in Haryana. INDL (Indian National Lok Dal) led by the Chautalas is leading in 19 seats there while Congress is leading in only 14.
Congress earlier in the day accepted its defeat in Haryana with party spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi saying "we must accept this defeat with humility."
The Congress, which ruled Haryana for last 10 years, even trailed behind the INLD at the third place.
