Bhopal horror! 2 held for alleged gangrape, blackmail, forced conversion attempt of minor

Police have arrested two men in connection with the repeated sexual assault, extortion, and attempted forced religious conversion of a Class 11 student, media reports said.

The victim, a minor attending a prestigious school in the Shahpura area, was allegedly targeted through a coordinated plot involving blackmail and physical violence.

The primary accused, identified as Ausaf Ali Khan, reportedly befriended the victim through a mutual acquaintance.

According to police statements, Khan took the girl to a secluded area in Khanugaon under the guise of a drive, where he allegedly raped her inside a vehicle.

The act was reportedly premeditated. A second suspect, Maaz Khan, a local gym owner, allegedly hid outside the vehicle to record a video of the assault.

The duo then used this footage to blackmail the student, demanding ₹1 lakh to keep the video from being leaked.

The traumatized student reportedly managed to pay the suspects ₹40,000, but the harassment did not stop.

Officials stated that the suspects continued to sexually assault and blackmail her over a period of time sexually. Investigations revealed that the assaults took place across four different vehicles, including two sedans and a Mahindra Thar, all of which have since been seized by the authorities.

When the victim eventually blocked the suspects and attempted to sever contact, Ausaf Ali Khan allegedly circulated the video among her friend group and pressured her to convert to Islam and perform religious prayers.

Following a formal complaint filed by the victim’s family, supported by local organizations, the Bhopal police swiftly apprehended both suspects.

To ensure a thorough inquiry, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been established. Headed by an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), the SIT is tasked with:

Investigating whether the accused have targeted other women using similar tactics.

During a recent court appearance in Bhopal, tensions escalated as the accused, Ausaf Ali Khan, was reportedly intercepted and assaulted by a group of lawyers on the court premises.

The suspects face multiple charges under the IPC (Indian Penal Code), the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act, and relevant sections concerning forced religious conversion and extortion.

The investigation remains ongoing as police analyze digital evidence from the seized devices and vehicles.
