Being a teacher is different different from other professions : PM Modi on eve of Teacher's Day
New Delhi, Sept 4 (IBNS) Paying glowing tributes to teachers, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said being a member of the community is taking up a profession totally different from any other career.
"Being a teacher is not like any other career. It is something different. I bow to all the teachers. It is the teachers who make the generations," he said at a programme a day ahead of the Teachers' Day.
He said "a teacher can never retire" and has a great responsibility towards shaping the future of children and both have profound influence in one's life.

Drawing an analogy between a mother and a teacher, the Prime Minister said the former gives birth to a child, while the latter gives the child life.
"Mother gives birth to a child. Teacher (guru) gives life (jeevan)," he said.
"There will l hardly be a anyone in the world who will not admit that the role of their mother and teacher in their life..., Modi said.
The programme, organised at the Manekshaw Auditorim to mark the Teacher's Day on Saturday was attended by about 800 students and 60 teachers.
"A teacher's identity is his student...What teachers say to us, we will remember for the rest of our lives...

"We pay tributes to Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan (late President) and mark his birthday as Teachers' Day," Modi said.
Replying a question during interaction with students, the Prime Minister said if one wants to become a leader it must be for making a difference in people's life and not for fighting elections.
"Leadership quality is essential. You must also be clear why you want to be a leader: to fight elections only or to make a difference," he said.
