Ban on Chinese apps was a digital strike on China: Ravi Shankar Prasad

Addressing virtual Jansamwad rally with the workers of West Bengal unit of BJP, Prasad said the Chinese apps were banned to protect data of the people of the country. "It was a digital strike," noted Prasad, who also holds Law & Justice, Communications and Electronics portfolios.

Prasad said Indian soldiers had given a befitting reply to the Chinese soldiers during the bloody scuffle on the intervening night of June 15 and June 16.

"Our soldiers taught the Chinese a lesson and gave out a clear message that anyone who would threaten our sovereignty would be dealt with an iron hand," he said.

The Union minister said that the Chinese suffered a bigger casualty than India and claimed that China had not revealed the numbers for this reason.

"If we have lost 20 soldiers, China has lost more than double..Why has China not revealed the casualty figures?" he said.

Reiterating Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statement after the Ladakh face-off, the Union minister said the martyrdom of the Indian soldiers will not go waste.

"Now you can hear about only two 'Cs' – coronavirus and China. We believe in peace and solve problems through discussion, but if somebody casts an evil eye on India, we will give a befitting reply..." he said.

Yesterday, the minister had said the ban on Chinese apps presents an ideal situation for Indian developers so that Indian users stop looking for foreign-made apps to meet their need for digital tools.
