Azam Khan's objectionable remark against BJP candidate Jaya Prada triggers controversy
Lucknow, Apr 15 (IBNS): Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan on Sunday triggered a controversy by making a remark against BJP's Lok Sabha candidate Jaya Prada.
Jaya is fighting the Lok Sabha Polls from Rampur seat. She joined the BJP recently.
While addressing a rally in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, Khan was quoted as saying: "It took 17 years for you all to understand her. But I took just 17 days to understand that the underwear she wears is made of Khaki."
Khan allegedly made the comment on Jaya's association with RSS.
Meanwhile, Khan on Monday said that if he is proved guilty then he will not contest the elections.
The incident earned criticism from External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj when she posted on Twitter her comment and asked Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav not to make the "mistake" of staying silent just like Pitamah Bhishma (character from Mahabharata), when Draupadi was disrobed by Duryodhana in Mahabharata.

National Commission for Women chairperson Rekha Sharma reacted to the development and called Khan's remark as ' disgraceful'.
She said the NCW will send notice to the SP leader.
