Puri, Aug 14 (UNI) All construction around the Sri Jagannath temple in Puri will be demolished to widen the passage as the temple is a soft target of the terrorist.

The buildings identified for demolitions included several mutts, private property like Ramdaya Parishad, shoe stands and government service sector installations like relocation of power supply building, temple information centre, police outpost and seven other buildings.

The widening of passage (Parikrama) would begin from Monday next it is learnt.

Adequate compensation would be paid to private property owners.

A consultant has been entrusted to prepare a detailed plan.

Since it is a heritage site construction within hundred metres from the temple is prohibited but some multi storied buildings had come up defying the restrictions.

The state high court in number of cases had directed the administration to remove all encroachments and constructions from the prohibited area.
