Australian High Commissioner to India thanks Mamata Banerjee for sending sweets on Vijaya Dashami

Kolkata/IBNS: Australian High Commissioner to India Barry O'Farrell has thanked West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for sending sweets on the occasion of Vijaya Dashami, which marks the end of festival Durga Puja in the east Indian state.

Tagging Banerjee, O'Farrell tweeted, "... Thank you for the traditional #Bengali sweets Mishti Doi and Sandesh. Looking forward to my next visit to your state."

West Bengal, which is known for sweets, celebrated Vijaya Dashami which fell on Oct 15 this year.

As per customs, people offer sweetmeats while greeting Vijaya Dashami.
