Sydney, Mar 6 (IBNS): Body of an Indian-origin dentist, who went missing recently, was found in a suitcase in Australian city of Sydney, police said on Wednesday.

The dentist was identified as Preethi Reddy.

As per New South Wales (NSW) Police statement Reddy, aged 32, was reported missing by her family on Sunday (3 March 2019), after she failed to come home from a dental convention at St Leonards.

Police were told she last made contact with her family about 11am on Sunday, saying she planned to head home after having a late breakfast in Sydney.

Initial inquiries revealed she attended a fast food restaurant on George Street near King Street about 2.15am that day and appeared to leave alone, walking toward Market Street.

Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command established Strike Force Carlwood to investigate her disappearance, which included inquiries to locate her vehicle, a grey Volkswagen Golf.

Following an appeal for information to the community, Preethi’s vehicle was located parked on Strachan Street, Kingsford, about 9.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 5 March 2019).

During a search of the vehicle, police located Preethi’s body in a suitcase. She had been stabbed numerous times, the police said.

The police said in the statement: "Further inquiries have established that Preethi stayed at a hotel on Market Street, Sydney CBD, on Sunday with a man known to her."

"Strike Force Carlwood investigators have since been notified that the man died in a head-on collision on the New England Highway, Willow Tree, about 10pm on Monday (4 March 2019)," it said.

Glenbrook Dental Surgery, where Reddy had worked, earlier posted people to give information about her.

Glenbrook Dental Surgery posted on Facebook: "Please help find Preethi."
