Assembly polls: 69.9 pct voting in TN till 5 pm, 70.4 pct turnout in Kerala
Kerala witnessed 70.4 percent turnout while Puducherry saw 80 percent polling till 5 p.m.
In Kerala, a total of 1,203 candidates, including 109 women, are contesting for the 140 assembly seats.
The ruling UDF and opposition LDF are keeping their fingers crossed even as BJP is hoping to get a toe-hold.
However, confident of winning the polls, Kerala CM Oomen Chandy was quoted in the media as saying, "Confident that people will give us one more opportunity.
The TN polls sealed the fates of 234 candidates.
While the Congress has formed an alliance with DMK to gain lost grounds, AIADMK chief and TN Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in her assembly agenda promised free laptops and wifi along with a host of other amenities, if re-elected to power.
Her main adversary, the nonagenarian DMK chief M Karunanidhi has, however, exuded confidence of a victory denying Jayalalithaa's AIADMK a chance to return to power for the second successive term.
