Assam: Two jawans die after a BSF vehicle falls in a deep water body

Guwahati: Two BSF jawans died after a vehicle of the Border Security Force met with an accident and fell into a deep water body along Indo-Bangladesh border in Assam’s South Salmara Mankachar district on Friday.

According to the reports, the incident took place at Jhaudanga area in South Salmara Mankachar district where the BSF vehicle fell into a 20-30 feet deep water body.

A senior police official said that, five jawans including a Sub-Inspector of BSF had gone to the bordering area for patrolling and the driver of the vehicle lost his control and it fell into the water body.

“Following the incident three of them had able to reach safer place by swimming, but two were missing. We have recovered one body from the water body so far, but another is still missing,” the police official said.

Meanwhile, SDRF, NDRF teams have reached the spot and engaged in search operation.
