"Work on National Highways involving Rs 539 crore will be carried out in coming days. We are concentrating on the repairing work of maximum number of  National Highways damaged in the two waves of devastating flood by October next," the Assam minister said.

The current flood had damaged over 600 km National Highways, 6 bridges, 80 numbers approach roads, 700 numbers State Highways, district roads and rural roads in the state.

"The actual flood damaging cost is yet to be known. The department is engaged in finding out the actual flood damage infrastructure,"  Suklabaidya said.
