Assam sends first air cargo shipment of fruits to Singapore, CM Sarma describes the move as 'fantastic'

Singapore High Commissioner to India Simon Wong on Saturday announced the first air cargo shipment of fruits from Assam to Singapore.

Wong tweeted: "In a first, Assam's Fresh Fruits Reach Singapore via air cargo shipment establishing a direct Agro-export source from India's north east to the South East Asian country. Singapore High Commissioner Wong Commends Chief Minister Sarma's Initiative."

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma described the move as 'fantastic'.

"This is fantastic!" he wrote on X.

"For the first time, farmers from Assam have directly shipped their produce from Guwahati to Singapore," he said.

"With just 4.5 hours of flight time, this opens up new avenues to help double North East’s agricultural exports!" he said.

  India and Singapore recently piloted the first live paperless transaction using the Trade Trust platform, media reports said.

The move marked a milestone moment in the digital connection between the two nations.
