Assam govt to provide free text books to Class XI, XII students from next year

Guwahati, Jan 5 (IBNS): The Assam government will provide free text books among the students of class XI and XII from next year.

Assam Education Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday said that, the state government has taken several ambitious schemes for the education sector.

On Thursday, the state government launched a scheme to distribute free text books among the students of Class IX and X of government run schools.

Under the scheme, free text books will be provided to Class IX and X students.

The Assam minister said that digitally evaluated answer scripts using computerised software will be introduced from the upcoming HSLC examination.

"In this year, answer scripts of Mathematics will be evaluated digitally," Dr Sarma said.

The minister also said that, the state government will waive university admission fee of BPL students from next year.
