Guwahati, Jan 20 (IBNS): Police had arrested four persons who allegedly raped a 13-year-old minor girl in Assam’s Hojai district.

The incident took place at Ejarbari village near Kaki in the central Assam district on Saturday night.

The survivor, a Class VII student, was allegedly gang-raped by seven people when she was on her way home after attending a religious event on Saturday night. The accused allegedly took her from the village road to a paddy field and committed the crime.

Later, villagers rescued the minor girl and informed local police.

The Hojai district police on Sunday had arrested four persons for their alleged involvement into the incident and launched operation to nab the other accused.

A case has been registered at Kaki police station under the POCSO Act.

The arrested persons have been identified as Kanai Mazumdar, Rupan Rai, Rohit Kishku and Sumit Mardi.

Deputy Superintendent of Police of Hojai district Dipti Mali said the cops had arrested four persons and the search was on to nab the others who committed the crime.
