Assam: Five persons of a family die after their car fell into a river

Guwahati, Sep 1 (IBNS): Five people of a family died after a car, on which they were traveling, fell into a river in Assam’s Sivasagar district on Saturday evening.

The incident took place at Dikhowmukh area near Gaurisagar in upper Assam’s district when the family was travelling from Guwahati to Sivasagar and their speeding car lost its control and fell into Dikhow river.

The five members of the family are – Haren Bora, his mother Phunu Bora, wife Ponou Bora and two daughters Simpi Bora and Munmi Bora.

When the accident happened, some locals had jumped into the river and tried to rescue the family, but failed.

Meanwhile, SDRF and Sivasagar district police teams have rushed to the spot and launched operation to recover the bodies.
