Assam confers state’s highest civilian awards to 17 personalities including Lovlina, ASHA worker

Guwahati/IBNS: In order to recognize the exceptional service in various fields, Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi in the presence of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma conferred the state’s highest civilian awards to 17 distinguished personalities who have distinguished themselves in their chosen field of endeavour at a function held at Sankardeva Kalakhetra in Guwahati on Monday.

The state’s highest civilian awards – Assam Baibhav, Assam Saurav and Assam Gaurav were formally given to the recipients in line with the Padma awards bestowed by the central government.

It may be mentioned that for Assam Baibhav Award along with certificate and medal an amount worth Rs. 5 lakh has been given to the awardee and for Assam Saurav and Assam Gaurav along with certificate and medal, prize money worth Rs. 4 and 3 lakh have been given to the recipients of the awards.

Industrialist philanthropist Ratan Naval Tata, who was named for the highest honour Assam Baibhav award, and Dipak Chand Jain, who was named for the Assam Saurav award, have not attended the event and would be conferred their awards later.

Assam Saurav Award was given to Educationist Professor Kamalendu Deb Krori, Lakhsmanan S in the field of  Public Service,  Professor Dipak Chand Jain for Business Management,  Lovlina Borgohain for  Sports and  Neel Pawan Baruah in Art and Culture.
