Guwahati, Sept 23 (IBNS): Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday escaped unhurt after a Pawan Hans helicopter carrying him turned thrice in mid-air while Sonowal went to Lakhimpur.

The incident happened in mid-air while the Assam CM along with his Press Advisor and three other government officials was en route from Guwahati to Lilabari airport in Assam’s Lakhimpur district to attend a series of programme.

Hrishikesh Goswami, Press Advisor to the Assam Chief Minister said that the chopper suffered a technical snag during bad weather and it turned three times in mid-air.

“The chopper had a delayed landing at Lilabari airport after encountering inclement weather conditions. Later the pilot had safely landed the chopper,” Goswami said.

The chopper was landed at Lilabari airport at around 1-30 pm.
