Assam budget for FY18 to be tabled on Feb 7 : Himanta Biswa Sarma

Guwahati, Jan 11 (IBNS) : Assam finance minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said the state budget for the financial year 2017-18 will be tabled on Feb 7.

During a pre-budget consultation with the legislators of Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and Bodoland People’s Front (BPF), the ally partners of BJP led state government held in Guwahati, the state finance minister said that every department of the state government will have a 20% hike in budgetary allocation to speed up development.

“I asked to all MLAs to submit development schemes of their concern constituency within a week. The next state budget will give priority in all round development,” Dr Sarma said.

Sarma further said that, the Assam government has decided to do away with plan and non-plan expenditure in the next state budget.

“We will pay Rs 24,200 crore for revised salary and pension under 7th Assam pay commission in next financial year,” the Assam finance minister said.

“Total expenditure of the state have been estimated as Rs 40,650 crore in the next financial year including Rs 5500 crore paid for state loans,” the Assam finance minister said.

The Assam minister further said that, the state government will release all budgetary allocations to the all departments within February 28.

The next state budget session will be started from Jan 31.

The Assam finance minister said that, the state government will be tabled the budget of 2018-19 within the month of January.
