Assam awaits change and development: PM Modi
Guwahati, Mar 26 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday kick started the poll campaign in Assam with five rallies and said that the state is now waiting for a change and development.
Addressing a public rally in Majuli, river island of Brahmaputra, for the party's CM candidate Sarbananda Sonowal, Modi slammed the Congress led state government and said the ruling party is in power for the past 60 years but Assam is still underdeveloped state.
“We believe in three agendas and these are development, fast development and everywhere development,” Modi said.
Modi said that Assam is known in the world for its tea.
“I sold tea in my childhood and I know what is poverty,” Modi said.
Attacking Assam CM Tarun Gogoi, the PM said that he is not come here to fight against Gogoi, but come here to fight against poverty and unemployment.
“CAG seeks report from the Assam government, but Gogoi led state government had not submit the utilization report amounting Rs 1,80,00,000 crore,” Modi said.
Modi will address two more rallies in the poll bound state on Sunday.
The assembly poll in the state will be held on April 4 and 11 in two phases.
