Assam: 3000 people affect in first wave of flood in Lakhimpur district

Guwahati: More than 3000 people have been affected by the first wave of flood in Assam’s Lakhimpur district.

Water levels of several river have been increasing following incessant rains and flood waters have submerged at least 22 villages in Lakhimpur district.

Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) flood report said a total of 3031 people under Naoboicha, North Lakhimpur and Bihpuria revenue circle area in the northern Assam district have been affected in the first wave of flood.

The flood waters have also submerged 426.2 hectares of crop land in Lakhimpur, Dhemaji and Biswanath districts.

Flood waters had damaged an embankment at Naoboicha area, and partially damaged several roads in Lakhimpur and Dhemaji district and also washed away a bamboo bridge at Pachnoi area in Lakhimpur district.
