Arundhati Roy slammed for saying Pakistan never used military against own people

New Delhi, Aug 28 (IBNS): Indian author and activist Arundhati Roy has triggered a row by stating that 'Pakistan has never used its army against its own people as social media trolls followed and the writer known for her controversial stand on Kashmir was reminded the actions of Pakistan Army in Balochistan and in the 1971 Bangladesh liberation war.

She also claimed that it is India which has used force on the people of Pakistan.

As the video circulated widely, netizens have criticised the Booker prize-winning novelist.

Canada-based Tarek Fatah, a social commentator who is known to be a strong critic of Pakistan and its military, tweeted: “[She said] Pakistan has never deployed its military against its own people. Was she blind and deaf when 3M [million] died in the Bangladesh genocide by Pakistan Army in 1971? Is she unaware of #Balochistan? She’s literally reading off a Pakistan ISI [Inter-Services Intelligence of Pakistan] briefing note.’’

Another Twitter user @TheBharatGuy called her a ‘pseudo intellectual’.

“At the time when Pakistan is building at #UNSC for Kashmir, #ArundhatiRoy sold her soul long back just to stay in the limelight. India receives more threat from these pseudo intellectuals than the enemies at the border. #ArundhatiRoy,” he posted.

Roy has been regarded as a controversial figure in India for voicing sensitive political views.

She had earlier opined that Kashmir needs to separated from India.
