Arunachal Pradesh Governor visits Parasuram Kund

Guwahati, Feb 9 (IBNS): Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) on Thursday visited Parasuram Kund in Lohit District.

To get the firsthand knowledge of the pilgrimage site, the Governor accompanied by Deputy Commissioner of Lohit District Karma Leki and other district officials inspected the Kund, climbing down more than 400 steps to the place of holy dip. He also saw the infrastructure and other facilities constructed for the pilgrims.

Interacting with the district officials, the Governor advised for holistic development of the area, linking economic empowerment of the local communities, amenities for the pilgrims and inclusive development the famous pilgrimage place of the State.

He also called for developing a blue print with composite approach.

Earlier, the Governor met the local people, including Gaon Burahs, Panchayat representatives and public leaders of Wakro and Parasuram Kund areas and shared his concerns regarding opium cultivation, drug abuse and gun culture. He said that it is the duty of the parents, relatives, peers, neighbours and whole society to keep a watch on drug abuse amongst the children.

The Governor also stressed on alternative source of livelihood amongst the cultivators.

The Arunachal Pradesh Governor, while taking serious note of gun culture exhorted the people to register their resistance it. For peace and development, our people must be motivated to stand against violence, extortion and insurgency, he added.

Later before, leaving for Namsai, the Governor and First Lady of the State paid obeisance at Parasuram Mandir, near the Kund on the occasion.
