Arunachal announces one week 'lockdown' in Itanagar Capital Complex

Itanagar/UNI; In the wake of the increasing COVID-19 positive cases in Itanagar Capital Complex, the Arunachal Pradesh government on Saturday announced  'lockdown' for one week starting from 0500 hours of July 6.

Addressing a press conference here, Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar  said, "From 0500 hours of  6th July (Monday) till 1700 hours of 12 th July ( Sunday) there will be lockdown in Itanagar Capital Complex."

He informed that Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and Council of Ministers have observed that in the last one week COVID-19 positive cases have increased in Capital Complex , and took decision of lockdown.

The CS said that details of activities that shall be exempted from the  lockdown will be announced tomorrow.

"In some areas if there is a need for containment of the activities, the administration will identify," Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar  stated.

He also appealed people to wear masks, maintain social distancing  and wash hands regularly.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pema Khandu in a tweet wrote, "Itanagar capital complex will be under lockdown from 6th July (Monday) till 12th July (Sunday). Detailed Guidelines and SOP for compliance will be issued shortly. "

Capital Complex has highest number of COVID-19  cases. A total of 89 cases have been reported so far out of which active cases stands at 81 and eight discharged.

A total of 252 COVID-19 cases have been reported  so far in Arunachal Pradesh. Out of these, active cases in the state stands at 176, 75 discharged and one death.
