New Delhi, Dec 28 (IBNS) The battlefield of 1971 and the action at Nagi Sand Dune came alive in Sriganganagar district when veterans, serving soldiers as well as local populace stood on Sunday at the very sand dune, that 43 years ago saw and felt the roars of war.

"The nefarious act of Pakistan Army who captured Indian territory in village Nagi ten days after the ceasefire of 1971 war was put to naught by the brave action of soldiers of Indian Army who reclaimed the post," the Indian Army said in a statement.

To commemorate the occasion a number of events were held at Sriganganagar Military Station and Nagi Memorial on  Dec 27-28 by Amogh Division.

Wreath laying ceremony was held at Shaurya Sthal on Dec 27 and a Sand Art show was organised at Sriganganagar Cantonment which depicted the heroism of the martyrs of 4 PARA Battalion and 9 PARA Field Regiment.

On Dec 28, a Para Motor display and wreath laying ceremony was held at the War memorial at Nagi.  It was followed by interaction with veterans and civilians of Nagi village present during the war.
