Srinagar/IBNS: The Indian Army Thursday conducted a winter festival in Gurez, Kashmir on the 73rd Republic Day to promote the potential of winter tourism.

The fest was celebrated by more than 1,000 locals, a statement of the Army said.

A wide range of activities and games like snow fight, snow volleyball, snow cricket, snow race, and snow tug of war saw active participation, it said.

Cultural programmes were intended to highlight the rich cultural heritage of Gurez.

Igloos and snow sculptures were made by the locals and snow camping garnered attention from tourists.
