Amaravati, Jun 28 (UNI) The government of Andhra Pradesh has decided to slash the security cover of former Chief Minister and leader of the Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu.

The government decided to remove two chief security officers. It also decided to remove 3 Reserve Inspectors and 15 security personal which were working under the guidance of the two chief security officers.

Earlier, the government had removed the escort and pilot clearance vehicles from the convoy of Chandrababu Naidu.

Mr Naidu was provided Z+ category and NSG security after he escaped a bid on his life made by Naxalites in 2003 at Tirupati. When Chandrababu Naiodu was the leader of the Opposition in the combined AP state from 2004 to 2014 the then government provided security cover to Mr Naidu with an Additional Superintendent of police, a Dy SP and 3 Reserve Inspectors.

Now the government removed all of them and ordered to provide 2+2 constables security to him. Recently, the state government had withdrawn the security cover to Chandrababu Naidu’s wife Bhuvaneswari and daughter-in-law Brahmini and reduced security cover to Naidu’s MLC son Nara Lokesh.

Responding on reduction of security cover to Chandrababu Naidu, TDP MLA and former Minister K Atchennaidu alleged that without holding the security review committee meeting the government decided to dwindle the security cover to the former Chief Minister.

Responding on slashing of security, Naidu said while addressing senior leaders, People of the state are keenly observing the vindictive acts of the new government.

Responding on the issue, the state’s home minister Mekathoti Sucharita clarified that the security to former Chief Minister would be provided as per the law.

“The Security Review Committee will decide on the extent of security cover to be provided to him. We have not taken decision on the reducing of security to Naidu in a vindictive manner. The TDP leaders are politicising the issue,” she said.
