Ambassador of Republic of Korea calls on Assam CM
Guwahati, June 29 (IBNS): The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Hyun Cho called on Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in Assam Secretariat on Wednesday and talked on a wide spectrum of areas such as economy, culture, tourism, tea, food processing etc.
Sonowal apprised the Korean Ambassador Hyun Cho of Assam’s prolific tea gardens and the role of tea in the State’s economy.
The Assam CM also spoke on the immense tourism potential in the State and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment of transforming the North East to ‘organic hub of Asia’.
Sonowal also requested the Korean Ambassador to invest in State’s organic sector to help the State Government’s efforts in making Assam a ‘green and ecologically friendly’ State.
Sonowal stressed on ‘youth exchange’ programmes between Assam and the Republic of Korea and requested the Ambassador for encouraging frequent youth exchange programmes between Assam and the Republic of Korea.
Hyun Cho also expressed Korea’s interest in investing in Assam and invited Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal to Korea to which the Chief Minister agreed in principle and acknowledged the Ambassador’s gesture of visiting the State.
