Air services resume in Srinagar after 72 hours

| | Jan 27, 2017, at 07:49 pm
Srinagar, Jan 27 (IBNS) : Providing much relief to the stranded passengers, air traffic resumed at Srinagar International airport on Friday after remaining suspended for 72 hours due to heavy snowfall and bad weather.

"Flight operations started at the airport and first flight landed this afternoon and if weather permits service will continue throughout all

days,” an airport official said.

While no flight has been cancelled so far on Friday, all the scheduled ones were delayed because of bad weather, he said.

This was the second time when Srinagar Airport cancelled all frights for three to four days because of heavy snow fall and bad
weather.

Meanwhile, the 300-km-long strategic Jammu Srinagar National Highway remained closed for the fourth continuous day. “There are little
chances of the road getting opened up. If weather improves, we will try to clear the stranded vehicles on priority basis,” said a traffic official.
