Air India cancels flight from Delhi to Moscow amid Russia-Ukraine war: Reports

New Delhi/IBNS: Indian airline Air India has cancelled its twice-a-week flight from the national capital Delhi to Moscow amid the war between Russia and Ukraine, various media reports said.

The flight is cancelled as the airline is unable to secure insurance coverage because of the rising threat perception over the war.

Air India is among those airlines which continue to use the Russia airspace following Moscow's attack on Kyiv.

The Russian embassy on Wednesday claimed Air India, which is now owned by the Tata Group, has stopped selling tickets on the Delhi-Moscow-Delhi route.

The prospects of the flights are also unclear, the embassy said.

"Dear fellow citizens. We draw your attention that the Indian airline Air India has stopped selling tickets on the Delhi-Moscow-Delhi route, the prospects for resuming flights of this airline to Russia are uncertain at the moment.

"According to the Air India office, passengers are entitled to the full refund for the cancelled flights," the Russian embassy said as quoted by NDTV.

The embassy says it is still possible to fly from Delhi to Moscow through transit routes.

Earlier this week, Moscow had said it plans to end the Covid-19 restrictions to and from the nations which have not gone against Russia over its war on Ukraine.
