Mumbai, July 13 (IBNS): In a major move, All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has been derecognised as a political party in Maharashtra.

Following the move, Hyderabad-based leader Asaduddin Owaisi's party will not be able to contest in the Mumbai civic body elections.
It will also not be able to contest in the local body elections in Maharashtra.

"According to Maharashtra's election commission, the AIMIM did not submit relevant documents for its registration and hence the step was taken," Mid- Day reported.
