Ailing former West Bengal CM Buddhadeb Bhattacharya discharged from hospital
Kolkata: Ailing former West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya has been discharged from the hospital where he was admitted to on Friday night.
Bhattacharya has been brought in an ambulance to his residence at Palm Avenue in south Kolkata.
The former Chief Minister was rushed to the Intensive Coronary Care Unit (ICCU) of a private hospital in south Kolkata with an acute respiratory problem and low blood pressure.
The medical bulletin, which was issued by the hospital on Monday morning, read, "With reference to the admission of Sri Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee, former CM of West Bengal. He is currently sleeping comfortably with BIPAP. He is maintaining stable Blood Pressure and Normal Heart Rate , Oxygen saturation with oxygen supplementation."
"His Pneumonia is resolving and he will be needing few more days of Intravenous Antibiotics and supportive care including Bipap, Oxygen support, Nebulisation and Chest Physiotherapy," read the statement.
Bhattacharya, a veteran CPI-M leader, is away from public eyes due to illness for several years now. Despite reaching his party's Brigade Rally venue on Feb 3 this year, the former Chief Minister could not step out of his car.
He remained the Chief Minister from 2001 to 2011 until his party was voted out of power by the Trinamool Congress.
